How To Consider The Area To Be Poured For Self Leveling And Size Of Bucket Before Starting Process?

Self leveling is an easy and effective way to create a smooth and level concrete surface. It was patented by Lafarge in 1997 and has since become popular among homeowners and contractors. The process is relatively simple, but does require a few steps.

Before you start the process, consider the area to be poured and the size of the bucket you will be using. Make sure the leveler is stored indoors and away from heat vents and any potential water leaks. Also, if possible, block any drains and doors in the area. Keep the bucket low so that there is minimal splashing. You should also hang a "keep out" sign to prevent other people from walking in.

Mix Quickly For Two Minutes For Correct Consistency

When it comes to Self Leveling, you should try to keep it as quick as possible. This is important because you should leave at least two minutes for the mixture to reach the correct consistency. If the product is not mixed in this time frame, the material will not be able to flow properly.

After the proper amount of time has passed, you can begin applying the self leveling concrete. Usually, a self-leveling product has a thickness of about 1/4 inch. To get the best result, you should use a gauge rake to spread the leveler. A gauge rake is a metal squeegee that has adjustable depth guides on it. Using a gauge rake allows you to make sure that the concrete is applied properly and evenly across the floor.

Mix Product In Clean Water Using Electric Mixer For Best Results

During the application process, you should also take the time to mix the leveling compound. Most manufacturers recommend that you mix the product for two or three minutes. However, this is not always feasible for the average homeowner. In cases where the mix takes less than that, it is a good idea to get a couple extra hands on the job.

For the best results, you should also mix the leveler product in clean water. This will allow it to have a more even viscosity, making it easier to spread. Additionally, it will help it to flow properly. As long as you are using the proper dilution ratio, you should not run into any problems. Ideally, you should also use a good quality electric mixer.

Use Paint Roller When Applying Primer

Next, you will want to apply a primer. A primer is a substance that acts as a bonding agent for the self-leveling underlayment. Typically, you will see a label on the primer, stating how to apply it. The primer will also retain moisture within the product. This is especially important if you are installing the product over a substrate that has been prone to mold or mildew. Moreover, a good primer can improve the bond of the underlayment.

Once the primer has been applied, you should wait three to twenty-four hours for the Self Leveling Dubai compound to dry. This will ensure that the underlayment will not come loose from its adhesive base. You should also use a paint roller to apply the primer.
